The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, has condemned in strongest terms, the abduction of female students of Federal University Gusau.
The Minister, who is the immediate past Governor of Zamfara State, also extended his sympathy to the parents, the academic community, and the entire citizenry of Zamfara State for the tragic abduction.
Acting Director Press, MOD, Attari Hope, in a statement quoted the Minister as saying: “I share in your pain and strongly condemn this reprehensible act carried out by suspected bandits”.
This is as the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has ordered the security agencies to rescue the female students of the University.
In a statement by his media aide, Ajuru Ngelale, the president described the abduction as a reprehensible act, stressing that there is no moral justification for such heinous crimes against innocent victims whose only offence was their pursuit of quality education.

The President, however, pledged that the federal government is determined to ensure that educational institutions remain sanctuaries of knowledge, growth, and opportunity, and are free from the menacing acts of terrorists.
But while condemning the attack in its totality, the former Governor of Zamfara State, Matawalle, called on the nation’s security forces to intensify efforts and deploy every available resource to secure the safe return of the students.
He said that all hands must be on deck in securing the release of the abducted students.
“As part of President Bola Ahmed Tinibu’s eight-point agenda of strengthening national security for peace and prosperity, I condemn and vow to secure the release of the abducted students,” the Defence Minister pledged.
Dr Matawalle said that air and ground components of the military have already been massively deployed within the state as every measure will be taken to protect the lives and property of all Nigerians.
