Dele Farotimi: NPF’s idleness cause of insecurity in Nigeria – Deji Adeyanju

A human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has accused the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) of idleness, claiming that it is the reason insecurity thrives in the country.
The lawyer, who was reacting to the arrest of his colleague, Dele Farotimi, over an alleged defamation of senior lawyer, Afe Babalola, claimed that the police is being used to fight ego wars instead of protecting citizens.
In a video he posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, Adeyanju said, “The police who are mobilised to arrest people from state to state to arrest people are needed in Zamfara to fight terrorism. It is because of the idleness of the police and other security agencies that insecurity flourishes in the country.
“The time and resources used to fight ego wars on the terms of powerful influencers and wealthy citizens should not be used for that purpose and in pleasing those who feel defamed. Taxpayers’ money should be used to fight bandits, insecurity and arrest criminals who have committed dangerous crimes.
“The whole world has moved away from criminal defamation, these are colonial laws, Nigeria must move away. The idea of abducting Dele Farotimi in Lagos and taking him to the turf of Baba Afe Babalola in Ekiti State in itself is suspicious. Why was Dele Farotimi not arraigned in Lagos where he resides and does business? Why was the raid on his office so violent?”
