A group, Delta Project 23 Movement (DPM 23) for Tinubu/Shettima, says it is proposing a two-million-man march for the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as well as the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

A statement by the group signed by its Chairman, Akpude Akpude, and Secretary, Kingsley Adigwe, said an electioneering campaign rally would be held in Warri, Delta State on Saturday, 18th February 2023 to actualise the aim.

In the statement addressed to the wife of the presidential candidate, Oluremi Tinubu, the Olu of Warri’s palace administrator, Clement Maleghemi, and the chairman, APC Delta South Senatorial Campaign Council, Evans Omatsoguwa, the organisers said two million-man-march aims to sentise the entire state of the importance of rallying round Tinubu towards preparation for the presidency.

It said, “Having seen his political capacity and mentoring ability throughout the nook and crannies of the country, it is glaring in the public domain, particularly the pre-June 12, 1993 issues and under the present 1999 democratic dispensation, that we know he is capable and the most qualified of all the candidate vying for the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Our incoming president (Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu), is an epitome of good governance and a symbol of God’s hands in Nigeria politics.”

The organisers added that the rally is going to be coordinated by the state National Executive Committee (NEC), in collaboration with the 25 local government areas coordinators.

The rally is expected to start at the Effurun roundabout, to the end at Nigerian Ports Authority (NTA), Warri.

“It will be fully mobilised from the 25 local government areas of Delta State to the designated venue, for an onward procession to the media where our motive will be dropped as a communique.

The Movement described itself as a grassroots crusader of peace “that cuts across all political parties of Nigeria, “committed to the propagation of peace to mobilise sensitive and catalyse action capable of prompting the masses to effectively participate in the transformation agenda and implement government programmes and policies that would bring about unified development and progress to the nation.

It added, “We, the members of project 23 Movement, are aware of our ethnic, cultural, social, and diversity; we are determined to contribute toward the transformation agenda of our nation, especially our state.

“Delta project 23 Movement is a child of the brains of intellectuals who, after a critical assessment and thought, came out with a common goal and decision to support our principal officers of the APC – Ovie Omo-Agege as Delta governor and Ahmed Tinubu as presidential flag bearer respectively, to make our state and nation a haven for the next generation, rather than to leave it in the hands of political gladiators.”
