Delta nursing school queries student over Oluremi Tinubu’s diss song

The management of the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Agbor has queried one of its students, Nurse Osato Edobor for reportedly publicising a video where students of the school rejected Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, as their “mother” during her visit to the state.

Recall that Tinubu was in Delta State as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative project.

However, a moment from the event sparked widespread social media reactions.

In the viral clip, the event’s Master of Ceremony introduced Oluremi Tinubu as “everyone’s mother,” a common title for First Ladies.

The nursing students, however, refused to accept this designation.

When the MC declared, “Na our mama be this” (translated as “This is our mother”), the students responded in unison, “Na your mama be this” (translated as “This is your mother”), signalling their rejection of the title.

Reacting, the school management, through a statement by its provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, issued a t
24-hour ultimatum to Edobor to explain why she shouldn’t be disciplined for publicising the video on social media.

In the letter addressed to the student, she was accused of engaging “in malicious of recording/singing and posting unofficial response to song during the arrival of the First Lady (which was found on your TikTok page)”.

Some Nigerians have kicked against the school’s move, addressing it as an infringement on the right of Nurse Edobor.
