Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Champions, Delta Queens have been drawn in Group A in the WAFU Zone B Qualifiers for 2023 CAF Women Champions League.
In the draw ceremony held yesterday at the CAF Headquarters, Cairo, Egypt, Delta Queens FC who are making their first ever appearance on the continent, will play against USFA of Burkina Faso, Atletico D’Abidjan of Cote d’Ivoire and Benin Republic’s Sam Nelly FC in group A.
In Group B, Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa will take on As Garde of Niger as well as Friend of the World who represent Togo.
The Zonal qualifiers will serve as route to the CAF Women’s Champions League proper, where seven teams plus the host country will battle for the continental crown.
In the previous two editions, Nigeria was represented by Rivers Angels FC and Bayelsa Queens FC .
The WAFU Zone B CAF women’s champions league qualifiers will take place from August 18-31 in Nigeria with the winner booking the only champions league ticket available for the zone.
Also, in the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers FUFA Women Super League Champions, Kampala Queens were placed in Group A to face Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), F.A.D from Djibouti, Buja Queens and Yei Joint Stars from Burundi and South Sudan respectively.
Group B has Tanzania’s JKT Queens, Vihiga Queens from Kenya, AS Kigali from Rwanda and New Generation from Zanzibar.
Uganda will host the regional Qualifiers this year between 13th -30th August.
