The Diaspora Labour Party Supporters and Obidients have passed a vote of confidence on National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure.
The Abure-led leadership of the party has been under allegations of mismanging party funds, which he has denied.
Throwing support for Abure,
Chairman of LP USA, Prof Eddie Oparaoji, in a statement, described the allegations as distractions by the enemies of the party.
Oparaoji said the Diaspora LP and Obidients invited Aburi to a virtual global townhall meeting where he (Abure) addressed the serious allegations leveled against him.
“He cited compelling evidence, including credible official records, police reports, independent and INEC clean financial audit reports, as well as testimony from diaspora corroborating witnesses.
“While Mr Abure may have his sins like most politicians, these materials unequivocally supported his innocence and highlighted his commitment to transparency and accountability within our party,” the chairman said.
The statement concluded that “Until substantive evidence of wrongdoing is presented against Abure through due process, we stand firmly behind him.”
