Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has rewarded victorious athletes that made the state and country proud at the just concluded All African Wrestling Championship in Casablanca, Morocco with a total package of over 14 million Naira.
The governor who was elated with their performances, announced sum of 2 million naira each for gold medalists, 1 million naira for silver medalists and 700 thousand naira for bronze medalist while the coach of the team cruised home with two point five million naira.
Speaking at the Executive Council Chambers in Government House Yenagoa while receiving the victorious athletes who are of Bayelsa origin , Gov. Diri remarked that by their achievements, they have made both the state and nation proud.
Presenting the athletes and trophy to Gov Diri, Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali thanked the governor for his support to the team.
