Don’t blame govt for your woes, Gombe SSG tells pensioners

By Kassim Omomia
Gombe State Government has charged pensioners in the state not to blame the current administration for their pension woes.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said at a meeting with the group, that it was unfair to blame the government of Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya Abubakar because the immediate administration mismanaged over N59 billion, part of which was meant for payment of pensions, gratuities and salaries.
Next president will spend entire tenure fixing rot created by APC, says Wike
“Blaming the Inuwa Yahaya administration for non-payment of your liabilities was not fair owing to the fact that it is common knowledge to all that the immediate past administration squandered N59.6 billion of bailout funds meant for the payment of pensions, gratuities and salaries without addressing the real issues up to the time it left office,” he noted.
According to the SSG, “This is apart from so many anomalies that are recorded about state and local government civil servants which include ghost workers, among many others, and which the present administration is committed to addressing.”
He, however, appealed to the retirees to exercise patience and remain calm as the government was not unmindful of their plight, remained committed to addressing and changing things for the better.
Prof. Njodi assured them that the current government was voted for based on its promise to change things for the better, and it would surely not fail the people.
