Dredged and rehabilitate dams across the country to control

The Emir of Dutse in Jigawa state, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi has called on the federal government to make efforts to rehabilitate, and dredged all dams across the country, as panacea to annual flooding confronting some parts of the country.
The Emir made the call while receiving Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar in his palace in continuation of the Governor’s sympathy visit on the royal fathers of the state’s Five Emirate Council’s over this year’s flood disaster engulfed the state.
Alhaji Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi lamented that Tiga and Chalawa dams in Kano state were not dredged for over fifty years, thereby resulting to annual flooding that destroyed large hectres of farmlands and houses.
He noted that the extent of damage done by flood in Jigawa state this year was disheartening and calls for urgent attention.
Earlier, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar said he was at the emir’s palace to console with the good people of jigawa state, and the Five Emir’s over the menace of the devastating flood that ravaged most parts of jigawa state.
He said government was aware that the flood had destroyed a number of houses and farm lands and called on the emir to extend his sympathy to the victims in his domain.
Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar added that he had already intimated President Muhammad Buhari over the incident in the state.
According to the governor, government will do its best to contain the situation, as well support and assisted the flood victims within its reach to cushion their hardships, stressing to buttress our stance on this noble objectives, we have directed SEMA to as a matter of urgency to promptly assist, and resettled most of the affected flood victims scattered across Jigawa state.
At the Emir of Kazaure, the Emir, HRH Najib Hussaini Adamu, enjoined government to as a matter of urgency to sanitize the process of land acquisition to people, as well find shelter to those affected by floods, as well considered their losses as a result of the unprecedented phenomenon.
Responding, Governor Badaru assured the emir that both state and federal government have despatched government officials in taking inventory of the menace with a view to assisting the flood affected victims.
