The PDP kicked off the scrambling for non indigenes votes with the coming of the former Anambra state governor and vice presidential candidate in the 2019 elections, Mr Peter Obi, who appeared at the party rally in Orhionmwon axis of the state where there are large concentration of of Igbo speaking community.

Again, the PDP campaign council has also welcome to the state, the former Kano state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Kwankwaso to lead the campaign in getting the Arewa Community across the state on the need to vote for the PDP candidate.

On the side of the APC campaign were two prominent northerners who coincidentally are also from Kano. They are the former Kano Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau and the incumbent Governor of Kano state, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Ganduje

To speak to the Igbo community on the APC side was the lmo state Governor, Hope Uzodinma. The coming in of the mentioned party leaders to seek the support of non indigenes in the state is a testimony that the election is not about Edo people alone. It is estimated that the non indigenes votes will constitute about 20 percent of the voting population in the state.
