The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday confirmed the list of candidates for National Assembly of the People Democratic Party, Edo State chapter, in favour of the party’s National-vice Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih.

ThisNigeria reports that Orbih’s faction and the incumbent governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki had been in dispute over the candidates’ list to represent the party for National and State assembly in the 2023 elections.

Recall that both factions had conducted separate primaries for candidates for state and national assembly.

However, the INEC only recognised the primary conducted by Orbih’s faction as it was monitored by the electoral body.

Athough attempts were made by the Obaseki’s camp to overthrow the judgement in court, however, the INEC endorsed and confirmed only candidates from Orbih’s faction for the elections.
