Edo Police rescue two kidnapped victims

Edo State Police Command on Wednesday said it rescued two kidnapped victims from their abductors in the state.

The command image maker, SP Kontongs Bello made the disclosure in a press statement made available to newsmen in Benin City.

Kontongs, who gave the names of the rescued victims to include Akintoye Babatunde (M) and Kabiru Abdullahi (M) said the victims were rescued unhurt while three others were still with the kidnappers

He said the victims were kidnapped by ten armed men who emerged from the forest in Ewohimi along Ubiaja Road in Esan South- East Local Government Area and opened fire on a Sienna Toyota bus with five (5) passengers en route Asaba from Abuja.

He added that the vehicle with Reg. No. AKD 499 YE was driven by one Akintoye Babatunde (M) belonging to a private company.

The command image maker, further added that on receipt of the information of the kidnapping incident, the Divisional Police Officer of Ewohimi, CSP Gideon Azuonwu immediately mobilized his team and OPC to the scene and recovered the vehicle to the police station.

He explained that the team of operatives thereafter embarked on forest combing and in the process rescued the duo of Akintoye Babatunde ‘M’ and Kabiru Abdullahi ‘M’ unhurt.

He said bush combing is still ongoing in an effort to rescue the other victims and arrest the fleeing hoodlums.

Kontongs said, the commissioner of police in the state, Mr Philip Aliyu Ogbadu thanked the operatives for the prompt response that led to the rescue of the two victims.

He, however, charged the officers to follow the criminals to their hideout to ensure that the remaining victims are rescue while the criminals are arrested.
