The Super Eagles landed in the capital city of Guinea Bissau yesterday in high spirit ahead of today’s reverse fixture of the AFCON qualifier against the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau.
The three-time African champions, who departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 7 am aboard a chartered flight, suffered a shock 0-1 defeat in the first-leg decided on Friday in Abuja.
Before departing midfielder Alex Iwobi assured Nigerians that the team will give a strong fight to get a good result in Bissau while captain Ahmed Musa also apologized to Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Guinea-Bissau coach, Baciro Cande, is confident that his team will complete a double over Nigeria when they both clash at the Estadio 24 de Setembro in Bissau on Monday evening

“We did a thorough analysis of the Eagles players and how their coach usually sets up his team, and the boys did the rest by sticking to our game plan with resilience and determination.
“For the second leg, we shall go back to plan how best to play Nigeria. Of course, we will be going for another victory. We still respect the Eagles despite our victory on Friday”
Guinea Bissau currently tops Group A of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers with seven points, one point ahead of Nigeria.
