My marriage intact, ignore divorce rumours, says Okey Bakassi

Veteran comedian and actor Okey Bakassi has dismissed viral claims that his marriage has collapsed, describing the reports as false, disturbing and disrespectful to his family.
The comedian said the allegations were fabricated to generate online traffic, insisting that he and his wife remained together after recently celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.
The rumours followed the circulation of a viral video allegedly doctored to suggest that Bakassi was crying over his wife’s supposed decision to divorce him after he had spent 15 years taking care of her and their children in the United States.
Reacting in a statement on social media, the actor urged his family, friends and fans to disregard the claims, describing the publication as an attempt to exploit his private life for online attention.
“It’s so disrespectful and sad that, out of desperation to get views or create viral content, someone will go to the extent of spreading fake news about my very happy family,” he said.
Bakassi also dismissed claims that his wife lives in Canada or works as a nurse, insisting that the information circulating online was false.
He further called on members of the public to report the account responsible for sharing the alleged misinformation on X, formerly Twitter, for violating the platform’s rules.
“Please, my family, friends and fans, disregard any story that my wife and I are having issues. It’s the work of evil, senseless people,” he added.
Reaffirming his position, the comedian said his family remained intact and secure.
“My family is intact and in God’s hands,” he stated.
The controversy comes after Bakassi and his wife celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, an occasion previously reported in the media.
