Ekiti Poll: Stakeholders call for peaceful elections, warn against do-or-die politics

Four days to the governorship election in Ekiti state, stakeholders and political observers have sued for peaceful election.

They urged politicians to avoid do or die in their struggles to win at the polls.

A Public Affairs commentator, Chief Ladi Bello from Akunu-Akoko said reports of killings and thuggery being relayed were very disturbing, saying the present situation will not take the country to the next level.

Bello urged political gladiators to caution their followers against unruly behaviors before during and after Saturday election.

Another political analyst, Mr. Marsha Ojuolape hailed various steps taken by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) and Security Agents in making Saturday’s election an hitch-free exercise.

Ojuolape appealed for calm and orderliness, saying there is no permanent enemies in politics.

A woman politician from Arigidi, Mrs Funmilayo Ajayi attributed thuggery and unruly behaviors as part of the reasons while many females are not interested in politics in Nigeria.

Ajayi urged parents to caution their wards not to be involved in thuggery and other acts inimical to democracy.
