Emohua leaders knock Fubara for mistreating traditional ruler
Some leaders of the Emohua community in Rivers State have knocked Governor Sim Fubara for his verbal assault on Eze Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, who was recently removed as the state Traditional Rulers’ Council chairman.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, these leaders, led by the Chairman, Emohua LGA, Lloyd Chidi, berated the governor for claiming that the embattled traditional ruler is of questionable character.
They expressed shock that Governor Fubara could disrespect the traditional ruler, who is highly revered in the state and beyond.
Speaking to the press, Chidi said, “I’ve always referred Rivers State people to what is in Ecclesiastes 10:16. It says, ‘Woe unto a city whose king is a child and whose princes merry in the morning.’ That symbolises what Sim Fubara is doing. Unfortunately, a governor would not be gubernatorial, that’s an exalted office. Not too many people are referred to as Excellencies.”
The leaders maintained that Fubara was the right man to be described as someone with an unstable character because he earned it.
Chidi continued, “It is unfortunate what we have in Rivers State, that a man who has written to you thrice in his capacity as the Chairman of the Rivers State Traditional Council, to say he wants to go for his routine medical checkup. You approved it but later turned around. Governor Fubara has earned a place in world records as a man of unstable character so he thinks everybody is unstable like him.”
“I have stopped reacting to the governor’s statements because they are very pedestrian. There are 36 governors in the federation, governance is going on in other states including those he calls to visit him. A governor without a political party, is that a governor?” the chairman inquired.
