EndSARS: C’River Panel Adjourns For Two Days Over Technical Issues
From Ani Bassey

The Cross River State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into police brutality and restitution has adjourned for two days over technical issues.
The panel is to determine if it is to go ahead with it’s inquiry without giving the Nigerian Police the opportunity to defend itself of the allegations against it.
Some senior lawyers including Mba Ukweni SAN and former Attorney General of the state, Attah Ochinke had drawn the attention of the panel to it’s constitutionality.
They contended that the Nigeria Police which supervises SARS should be given an opportunity to defend itself.
They also believe that the state attorney general, is the chief law officer of the state and should not sit as secretary of the panel.
Chairman of the Panel, Justice Michael Edem after listening to the arguments adjourned sitting for two days to enable the panel determine these issues.
He said the issues raised need to be considered by the panel in the interest of Justice as what is worth doing is worth doing well.
The panel had before adjournment received 39 petitions from SARS victims across the state.
