The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has urged the ranks and files of the Nigeria Police not to be discouraged  by the recent ENDSARS protest across the country.
Adamu, spoke in Abeokuta in  continuations of his nation-wide visits to police formations in  the country, which took him to the Police Headquarters, Eleweran,  in the Ogun State Capital.
The IGP, while addressing men and officers of the command, also  enjoined them to be mindful of how they use fire arms in their possession.
He also urged them to be courageous and professional while discharging their duties, promising that the Police would always be with them in  time of difficulties.
“You are not allowed to kill, but supposed to maim a criminal, who is trying to escape after committing an offence so that he be made to face the wrath of the law”.
“Do not be afraid or victimised in the discharge of your duties, come out in full force and perform your constitutional duties. You have a constitutional role to play”,  be courageous, civil and be firm”
Ogun State Police Commissioner, Edward Ajogun, while welcoming Adamu and his entourage, which included the Assistant Inspector Generals in charge of Zone 2, Ahmed Illiyasu and the Deputy Inspector General, Leye Oyebade, enjoined the police to be more friendly and serviceable to the public.
While also warning  the Police personnel against searching of members of the public’s phones, laptops and extortions, Ajogun said the Police charge  rooms  are not on the street, but in the Police station.
