#EndSARS protest: Protesters, journalist arrested in Lagos

Some protesters and a journalist were on Wednesday arrested at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State, where youths and others gather to mark the one year anniversary of the #EndSARS protest.

According to reports, a reporter with Legit NG called Abimbola among other protesters who were in white clothing were picked up by policemen who brought two police vans to the Lekki Tollgate.

Recall that in 2020 a “march” with the hashtag #EndSARS calling for an end to police brutality by Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) was hijacked by hoodlums.

The aftermath resulted in the loss of lives and the destruction of property across the country.

Activities by angry protesters, as well as hoodlums who “cashed in” on the protest to unleash mayhem in Lagos and other parts of the country, included acts of arson on police stations, courthouses, television stations, as well as the destruction of roads and other public infrastructure.
