Energia to spotlight indigenous innovation at Africa Energy Week 2025

Nigerian independent energy company, Energia Limited, has announced its active participation at the forthcoming Africa Energy Week (AEW) 2025, scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from September 29 to October 3, 2025.

Energia’s Chief Operating Officer, Oladimeji Bashorun, is billed to speak on October 1 at the Upstream E&P Forum, where he will join other global industry leaders in a panel discussion on “Unlocking Africa’s Onshore and Shallow Water Potential – Strategies for Sustainable Exploration and Development.”The forum will focus on optimizing upstream opportunities across the continent, emphasizing sustainability, indigenous innovation, and regional partnerships.

On the same day, Energia will also co-host a session with Olaniwun Ajayi LP, in partnership with Africa Legal, at the Leadership Forum. Themed “Beyond Divestments: Unleashing Indigenous Capacity to Power Nigeria’s Upstream Growth,” the dialogue is expected to highlight the increasing role of homegrown firms in reshaping Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector, particularly amid the ongoing divestment of international oil companies.

Speaking ahead of the event, Bashorun reaffirmed the company’s commitment to indigenous growth and innovation,“Africa’s upstream growth story is inseparable from the resilience and ingenuity of indigenous players. For over two decades, Energia has exemplified this through steady, ingenious operations that continue to expand opportunities in Nigeria’s oil and gas landscape.

“We believe that beyond divestments lies a greater chance to unleash homegrown capacity, deepen local participation, and drive sustainable development that benefits both investors and host communities.”

With more than 20 years of efficient upstream operations, Energia has earned a reputation for sustainable practices, stakeholder engagement, and community development.

Its participation at AEW 2025 underscores the company’s role in showcasing how indigenous operators are not only shaping Nigeria’s energy future but also driving socio-economic value across the continent.
