Environmental officers tackle open defecation in Ondo community

Environmental officers in Akoko Northwest local government have embarked on an intensive exercise to get rid of open defecation in the council area.
According to the Director of Environmental Services, Mrs. Yemisi Adeniyi, the exercise has taken them to Ogbagi, Irun Afin, and Arigidi Akoko where they educate residents on the need to have toilets in their houses.
The environmental experts did not limit their efforts to residential houses alone, but schools and other centers with numbers of people must have toilets for their use.
Mrs. Adeniyi disclosed that open defecation can lead to serious epidemics in the community. She cautioned residents against nonprovision of toilets which will soon attract prosecutions for offenders.

In his response a monarch the Owa of Ogbagi Akoko, Oba Olasehinde Odogbaragada commended the efforts of the environmental officials in making Akoko northwest communities free of deadly diseases.
The monarch appealed to landlords, school owners , churches and mosques to provide conveniences like latrine, toilet, dustbins and others that will enhance the cleanliness of their environment
