The Nigerian Army says the ongoing Exercise Enduring Peace being carried out within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and similar exercises being conducted across the country are recording tremendous successes.
The Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Team from Army Headquarters, Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Adesina, stated this when led the team of senior officers on a visit to forwarding Operation Base in Kwali Area Council of FCT on Tuesday.
Assistant Director Army Public Relations Guards Brigade, Capt. Godfrey Abakpa, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.
Adesina said the exercises were key to achieving a secure and peaceful environment where social-economic activities would thrive.
He said the visit was to ascertain the level of progress made in the ongoing exercise across the FCT and its environs.
He said that so much progress had been recorded since the commencement of the exercise in furtherance of the Chief of Army Staff’s zeal to create a safe and secure environment for all Nigerians.
According to him, the military hierarchy is particularly impressed with the rescue of the University of Abuja senior lectures and other victims by troops of the Brigade, in addition to several other rescue operations conducted to secure the FCT.
Adesina commended the effort of the Guards Brigade which he said had helped to stabilize the general area from the activities of kidnappers and other criminal elements.

He urged the brigade to sustain existing synergy with other security agencies such as the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as well as the Nigeria Police adding that no single security agency could win the war on terror alone.
He also implored the Brigade to continue to work towards achieving the COAS vision “to have a professional Nigeria Army ready to accomplish the assigned mission within a joint environment in defence of Nigeria”.
Responding, the Commanding Officer, 176 Guards Battalion, Lt.-Col. Kolawole Adisa assured the team of the troops’ readiness to continue to carry out they’re assigned tasked diligently and in tandem with the rules of engagement.
Adisa added that the brigade was committed to defending and securing the Federal Capital from criminals.
He also reiterated the troop’s readiness to work with all sister agencies to achieve the desired peace within the FCT and its environs. (NAN)
