Fani-Kayode asks FG to honour General Tarfa

Former Aviation Minister and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has called on the Federal government to honour General Paul Tarfa who is from Adamawa state and former Governor of Oyo State.

Fani-Kayode said that Tarfa is the true hero of Nigeria and the architect of Nigerian unity hence he urged the Federal Government to grant him the highest honor.

Fani-Kayode in an article on his Facebook page said that ”If you do not know what happened on the night of January 15th 1966 you cannot possibly understand the history of Nigeria.”

On January 15th 1966 there was a revenge coup and it was bloody in Ibadan, Ikeja and some other barracks, dissident soldiers ran amok killing all those they imagined to be sympathisers of the January 15th coup but both Tarfa and Captain Joe Garba leading their soldiers ensured that no one was killed in Ikoyi. They even protected their Commanding Officer, Major Ben Ochei.

Fani-Kayode hailed Tarfa saying that ‘he saved our country, avenged those that were slaughtered and stopped the carnage.” and that had it not been for him that bloody and vicious mutiny in which so many innocent sons, daughters and leaders of the North, South West and South South were butchered for no just cause and in the dead of the night would have succeeded.

2022 Budget: C’River Assembly passes increases estimates by over 28% to N354bn

That was the night in which the madness and carnage began.
Through it all one man saved our country, avenged those that were slaughtered and stopped the carnage. His name is General Paul Tarfa from Adamawa state.

Had it not been for him that bloody and vicious mutiny in which so many innocent sons, daughters and leaders of the North, South West and South South were butchered for no just cause and in the dead of the night would have succeeded.

He literally single-handedly saved Nigeria and saved the lives of many.
He is the true hero of Nigeria and the architect of Nigerian unity. I thank God that he is still alive and that I had the honor and privilage of spending some quality time with him the other day.

You need to hear his story and listen to him narrate the extraordinary events of that horrendous night.
I urge all to read his book and if possible to hear him speak. It is comforting to know that we still have such great men of courage and honor in our midst.

His family and loved ones certainly have so much to be proud of and I urge the Federal Government to grant him the highest honor.
The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain!

Thank you for your service and sacrifice sir.
Millions of us shall never forget and we shall pass your story on to future generations.
May God continue to bless you and yours. 🙏🙏🙏
