A Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, has sentenced a 20-year-old farmer, Sunday Iliya, to one year imprisonment for being in possession of a stolen generator coil.

Iliya had pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.

The presiding judge, George Gwani, gave him an option to pay a fine of N15, 000.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Esther Bishen told the court that Iliya was arrested in Kafanchan, with a generator coil suspected to be stolen.

She said when questioned, Iliya confessed that he stole the coil in Gidan Waya and brought it to Kafanchan with intent to sell it to one Napoleon, now at large.
