Fashola denies eyeing presidency

By Olusegun Olanrewaju
Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, says he is not interested in running for Nigeria’s presidency in 2023.

Rather, he said, wittingly, that he is only keen to be the president of his home.

According to the Special Assistant on Digital/New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Tolu Ogunlesi, Fashola said this when he was asked by a journalist about his plans for the 2023 general election.

There has been speculation that the former Lagos State governor will run for president.

A journalist, it was stated, had posed a question to Fashola about 2023.
The works minister replied: “I’m running for the president of my home. I’m going to Lagos. My wife and children are waiting for their president.

“All those who want to run, I wish them the very best of luck… For those looking for headlines, I have disappointed you.”

Some support groups had reportedly taken campaigns to parts of the country, further pressing on Fashola to run for president.
