FCT Minister, Wike assures residents on Saburi-Dei Dei road completion, says Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, alive

By Ben Adoga, Abuja

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has explained that President Bola Tinubu is providing good governance to the people of the FCT.

Speaking while inspecting the ongoing five-kilometre Saburi Dei-Dei Road project, Wike said Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda was at work in the FCT.

He said, “When you say good governance, provision of infrastructure and other things are all-inclusive. Providing security is also good governance. Making sure that people have quality education is also good governance. Being transparent is also part of good governance. So governance is inclusive of basic good infrastructure, being transparent, and education. All these we are doing are part of Mr President’s renewed hope agenda.”
The cheering crowd of residents chanted praises.

“We are happy, the people are so glad, and we are pleased with that. And that shows that they appreciate the essence of the renewed hope agenda.
“You know, what I tell people is just for them to be patient, Nigerians because things have been so bad they don’t want to be patient, but we can see that the fruit of democracy is coming out, maybe not the way you want it, but slowly but at the end of the day it is important that the people are happy, and for me that makes me happy just as we are standing here and everybody is happy.

“It is almost completed; you can see how happy they are. I always say that we believe that part of the renewed hope agenda is to make promises and fulfill our promises. So obviously, we have gone ahead to satisfy the people.”

Wike said the contractor had assured that the five-kilometer Dei-Dei Road will be ready in December of this year.

“The contractor has insisted that this road will be completed in December, except for the new bridge, which was not initially included in the work plan. But during the last rainy season, the ditch was quite flooded, so we had to turn it into a bridge, and they have said that to complete that bridge will take them two months after the completion of the project,” he said.

On the 17 km Dei-Dei Life Camp Road, Wike said the procurement process is 80 percent completed, adding that they are waiting for the Bureau of Public Procurement to issue the ‘Certificate of No Objection’ from the BPP.

On the clamp down on scavengers and beggars, Wike said that a combined security team was working day and night, arresting and prosecuting scavengers that were charged.

He said that the security operative had been clearing Abuja roads of the people who claimed to be beggars but were not beggars.

“It is not easy, but we are going to achieve it,” the Minister said
