The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Saturday, attended the South-South Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Calabar, Cross River State.
The Minister’s attendance at the congress, which brought together key stakeholders from across the region, gave a boost to the event.
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a prominent figure in the party, arrived at the venue to engage with party leaders and delegates.
His presence underscores his continued influence within the PDP, despite serving in the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.
The congress provides a platform for the party to discuss strategies for strengthening its structure in the South-South ahead of future elections. Discussions are expected to focus on leadership matters, party cohesion, and electoral strategies.

Alongside the FCT Minister, other party stalwarts present at the congress include: Senators George Thompson Sekibo, Olaka Nwogu, Sandy Onor; Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche; Chief Aaron Chukuemeka; Chief Dan Osi Orbih; Hon. Chinwe Chikere.
Mr Donald Duke, former gov of Cross Rivers State was also among prominent party leaders in attendance.
