With less than 72 hours to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, has stepped down in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Joshua Ishaku Musa.

Adamu announced his withdrawal on Wednesday, attributing his decision to the intervention of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

“I am standing here before you this afternoon to tell you that I have been in deep consultation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike,” Adamu said.

“I have concluded that Joshua and I are brothers. It will not be nice for two brothers to fight over one office. Therefore, I have relinquished my ambition in support of Hon. Joshua.”

He urged his supporters to back the APC candidate in the forthcoming election.

“I want to urge all my supporters to support Joshua to win this election,” he added.

Speaking at the event, Wike appealed to the people of Bwari to vote for Musa, promising more infrastructure projects if he wins.

“The people of Bwari, let me tell you why you should support Joshua. If you vote for Joshua, I will do more roads in Bwari,” the Minister said.

“Let nobody make any mistake. On Saturday, come out and make sure that Joshua wins the election.”

The development is expected to ease political tension between the APC and the PDP in the Bwari Area Council ahead of the polls.
