Church urges youths to shun social vices

The United Apostolic Church of Christ (UACC) Worldwide on Thursday tasked Nigerian youths to be God-fearing and refrain from social vices to achieve their dreams in life.

The church leaders gave the advice during the UACC 10th Youth Conference in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun, to arouse youth consciousness on good behavior and dream accomplishment.

Speaking at the event, the President and General Overseer of UACC, Dr. James Bayo-Owoyemi, admonished youths to have the fear of God in order to realize their dreams in life.

Bayo-Owoyemi said it was regretful that youths were being distracted by worldly things.

“Be resilient in faith and do not be distracted by worldly things so that God’s grace will continue to dwell in you throughout the phases of youthful uncertainty.

“It is that same grace that will refrain you from being involved in drugs, kidnapping, and other vices that have become features in contemporary society.

“As leaders of tomorrow, you should put on the armor of Christian life, be disciplined to earn the respect and confidence of the world,” he said.

Bayo-Owoyemi also charged Christians to live a Christ-like life to make eternity in the end.

He also congratulated the leadership of the UACC youth for organizing a peaceful spirit-filled event.

Bayo-Owoyemi said the event was the first youth conference since he became the President and General Overseer eight months ago.

He spoke on the theme: “Strangers on earth.”

In his remarks, Rev. Samuel Ogunlade, General Superintendent of UACC, said that there were high expectations before the conference, hence its success was not in doubt.

Ogunlade noted that the church had recorded improvements since the ordination of the president with responsive leadership on all fronts.

Ogunlade advised the youth to be united and shun evil deeds to remain relevant in the scheme of things in the church and society in general.

Also speaking at the event, the General Secretary of the church, Rev. Joseph Oluwatuase, described the youthful stage as the period of sowing.

Oluwatuase charged the people to emulate good characters from the leaders of the body and eschew sharp practices.

The Youth President of the church, Pastor Samuel Areji, admonished the youth to always exhibit exemplary conduct in their dealings.

Areji thanked members for their support, cooperation, and contributions toward the success of the conference.
