Federal Government blamed for sabotaging refineries

Fingers have been pointed to the Federal government for allegedly trying to sabotage Nigeria’s refineries and inevitably putting the citizens through hardships.
This accusation was made during a protest by members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), tanker drivers, and independent marketers branch of NUPENG at the refinery in Port Harcourt.
Uche Uduwo, Chairman of the independent marketer’s branch of NUPENG, berated the non-functional refineries.
“We cannot understand why the four refineries in Nigeria cannot be put to active work when we have crude oil in the country.
“They go outside the country to bring petroleum products and when they do that, they send the products to private tanks. We cannot accept it any longer. We are dying; members of the public are dying.
“Why should government facility be left to rot and private tank farm owners be living large? We will no longer accept it.”
The protesters were also concerned about the diversion of petrol products to private facilities and called for the sack of Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
