Environment Minister, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has called for global collaboration to combat desertification and land degradation, without further delay.
The minister made the call while addressing stakeholders at the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) which held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
He also highlighted the impact of degradation and diversification on food security and climate change.
Balarabe used the forum to call for increased investment in sustainable land management practices, while underscoring the importance of empowering local communities to participate in decision-making processes.
The UNCCD brought together representatives from various countries, including Nigeria, to share best practices and develop strategies for achieving land degradation neutrality.
