FG charges late Osinachi Nwachukwu’s husband with culpable homicide

Peter Nwachukwu, husband to the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu has been slammed with a 23-count charge by the Federal Government for allegedly assaulting his late wife.

The case was filed on May 20, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja with charge number CR/199/2022.


Nwachukwu was charged by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) under Sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of the Criminal Justice act, 2015.

He was charged with culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of the panel code punishable by death.

“That you Peter Nwachukwu, 56, male, on the 8th of April, 2022 at Aco Estate, opposite police station, Lugbe, Abuja, FCT, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did commit an offence to with: culpable homicide punishable with death in that you caused the death of Mrs Osinachi Nwachukwu by your various acts of violence and aggravated assault with the knowledge that her death would be the probable consequence of your acts,” one of the counts read.

No date has been fixed for the court hearing as of the time of filing this report.

Recall that the “Ekwueme” crooner died on April 8th, 2022 after an alleged brief illness.

However, family and friends began to point accusatory fingers at her husband, accusing him of physically abusing her until she passed away.

Nwachukwu was subsequently arrested by the FCT Police.
