The Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Dr Femi Adekanbi, says the river basin’s new management team will implement strategic measures to crash food prices in the country.
He said the agency’s resourcefulness and multipurpose approach would foster significant growth in agricultural production and food availability.
The newly appointed Managing Director stated this when he led other management team members on a guided tour of the agency’s facilities in Edo State.
He, however, underscored the importance of collaborative efforts, especially from host communities where the various basin projects are located, for this goal to be archived
Adekanbi told the staff, ” We must charge ourselves to be more diligent and committed because the new management sets clear expectations for performance and responsibility.
“We are hopeful that this new chapter will bring fresh energy, innovative ideas, and a renewed sense of purpose to the river basin and in line with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring food sufficiency.”
Similarly, Adegboyega Bamisile, Executive Director of Finance, assured the investor community that their investment in the BORBDA’s new management team would be safe.
He also noted that the nation’s agricultural sector needs concerted efforts from all Nigerians to guarantee food security.
“We, the new management team of BORBDA, will guarantee any investor or partner’s fund security and will also ensure they get a return on investment that is very dynamic.”
He said the new management team will conduct an asset valuation exercise for the BORBDA to understand its assets in-ground and liabilities. The essence of this is to attract more investment.”
For his part, Johnson Oghuma, Executive Director of Agric Services, called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to improve security around the Benin Owina River Basin Development Authority facilities and achieve food security.
It should be recalled that President Tinubu recently appointed Mr Mike Ezomo (Edo) as chairman of the Benin-Owena Development Authority, with Femi Adekanbi (Ondo) as managing director.
He also appointed Dr Austin Izagbo (Delta) as Executive Director for Planning and Design; Mr Johnson Oghuma (Edo) for Agricultural Services; Adegboyega Bamisile (Ekiti) for Finance; and Bayode Akinduro (Ondo) for Engineering.
