There is a rumor of attacks by groups sympathetic to El-Zakzaky over the purported disruption of economic activities around the major entrance to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. It is alleged that the attack is planned for Friday to prove their grievances against the Government and administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
This rumor can be seen in the early hours of 28th of September, 2021, as massive gridlock hit Nyanya, Mararaba, Karu road as passengers are finding it difficult to navigate their way. It is said that the army is currently mounting serious roadblocks to prevent the movement of this group from gaining access to the city center of the FCT.
Some residents who do not want their names mentioned bemoaned the pains and challenges of finding their way to their various offices and going about their daily activities for the day.
Findings at the Nyanya axis linking Mararaba to Nasarawa revealed that the situation is not only hectic but quite disturbing.
NGF to hold emergency meeting, find ways to avert strike
A resident, Paul Jefferson in Nyanya in a conversation to find out what was really happening said: “The situation of the traffic is terrible. No one knows when the road will be free. We learned the Shiites, Islamic loyalists of Sheik El-Zakzaky are rumored to be on their way to Abuja for the procession. And you know how it usually turns out.
“The army has decided to block everywhere most especially from the Kubo mechanic village down to Karu bridge. It is a serious challenge finding your way. You know this axis serves as the exit and entry point to Abuja.
“The fact is that no one is on sight but you know in Nigeria, once rumor breaks, it becomes another issue. Everyone is in panic. The number of vehicles allowed to pass through the checkpoint is limited. You will have to be thoroughly searched before been allowed to proceed. The gridlock is tough.
