Flood takes over four communities in Etsako Central LGA

....... Houses submerged, farmlands, livestock destroyed

Four communities in Etsako Central Local Government Council, are currently homeless following the over flow of the bank of River Niger.

The communities Udaba, Ugochi, Anegbette and Ekperi are lamenting losses of their farmlands and livestock to flood.

Houses are submerged, vehicles covered with the flood, some are complaining of possible pandemic as some Graves in the communities may be exhumed and livestock consumed by the flood.

Chairman of Etsako, Central, comrade John Osi Akhigbe has shown concern to the areas affected by flood in the Local Government Area advising on the modalities to be followed.

In a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Comr. Ibrahim Umaru, said that residents of some Communities are experiencing massive flooding which may lead to damage of properties, Farmlands and buildings in Communities.

He urged residents in prone area to relocate to a safer ground – “internal displaced persons” (IDP) camp to avoid loss of life as flood displaced 7 Communities, and 300 person in the Local Government Area.

Akhigbe noted that there must be a proactive step by the Government while appealing to the persons living in prone areas that have been identified to be relocated to safer grounds. My people are important to me and I will always protect them, Akhigbe said.
