Following torrential rainfall in various parts of Ondo state, vehicles and travellers passing through Imo-Arigidi – Agbaluku in Akoko axis of Ondo state, travellers are always stranded each time it rains.
Vehicles have been stocking in the abandoned portion of Ikare-Arigidi -Ajowa road due to serious flooding.
A community leader and victim of the incident, Chief Bayo Ojo Malomo narrated his ordeals to our reporter saying he abandoned his vehicle on Wednesday evening alongside others who couldn’t pass through the road due to serious flooding particularly at the failed portion of the road.
Chief Malomo lamented that the two kilometres road had been abandoned for over 16 years.
This he said, has been causing havoc such as road accidents, damage to vehicles and negative implications to the socio-economic growth of the road with less government attention.
Another concerned resident, Mrs Ajayi Ogidi said the bad portion deserved the attention of the state government because of the importance of Ikare to Ajowa linking the northern parts of the country.
According to Ajayi, the Southern/ Northern traders will be seriously affected if the bad portion is not fixed.
The duo also drew the attention of the government to a portion of Agbaluku Arigidi to Arigidi Oja which is always flooded, stressing the need for quick attention.
They appealed to the state government to extend the ongoing Ikare dualisation of the township road project to Arigidi Akoko just a kilometre away to alleviate their suffering.
