Pioneer first lady of Kano state, Hajiya Ladi Bako has died.

The announcement of her death was made by her daughter, Zainab Bako on Wednesday.

According to Zainab, Ladi died after a protracted illness at age 93.

Hajiya Ladi was the wife of the late Audu Bako.

Her husband, Audu Bako was a Nigerian police officer and the first Governor of Kano state during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon after the state was formed from part of the Northern region.

Late Hajiya Ladi was born in Sabon Gari, Zaria in 1930
