Former Senate Minority Leader, Aduda dumps PDP

...likely headed to APC

Former Senate Minority Leader, Philip Tanimu Aduda, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Aduda, who represented the Federal Capital Territory in the National Assembly for several years, announced his decision in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward, Abuja.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party,” he stated.

The former lawmaker, who is an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, expressed gratitude to the party for the platform it provided during his political career.

“I remain grateful for the opportunity the party gave me to serve in various elective positions in our nation,” he added.

Aduda served in the House of Representatives for AMAC/Bwari from 2003 to 2011 before moving to the Senate, where he rose from Minority Whip to Minority Leader, serving through the 7th, 8th and 9th National Assemblies.

His resignation comes at a time when the PDP is grappling with internal leadership disputes and factional divisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Although he did not state his next political move, there are indications he may join the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he is believed to be eyeing a return to represent the FCT in the 2027 elections.
