The police have arrested four suspects for allegedly impersonating the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in a land scam that reportedly defrauded a retired senior military officer and other victims of more than N150 million.
The prime suspect, Yashim Kajang, who is said to reside at No. 3 Martin Elegoma Street, Nigeria Army Post Housing Estate, Phase 1, Kurudu, Abuja, was arrested on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, over his alleged role in the fraudulent transaction.
Kajang is accused of deceiving Major General A.K. Ibrahim (rtd) and several others by claiming he had links with the FCT Minister and officials in the land administration system, thereby collecting over N150 million under the pretext of facilitating land allocation in Guzape II Cadastral Zone, Abuja.
Investigators said the suspect allegedly convinced his victims that he could secure genuine land documents for Plot 1985, measuring about three hectares, along with other parcels of land in the high-value district.
During interrogation, Kajang reportedly identified three alleged accomplices — Stephen Mhambe and Danladi Jatau, both reportedly staff of the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA), as well as Terngu Ipaven of No. 2 Chief Palace Road, Durumi 2, Abuja.
He allegedly confessed that the trio provided insider information and land-related data to convince victims of the transactions’ authenticity.
Police authorities confirmed that all four suspects are currently in custody and undergoing investigation over the alleged fraud.
