Four Nigerian health workers have been sentenced in Wolverhampton, UK, for mistreating an 89-year-old patient with vascular dementia.
The workers faced charges of physical and emotional abuse towards the patient, who lived in a care home.
The victim, unable to speak due to dementia, was subjected to mistreatment captured on a hidden camera installed by her family.
The abuse included rough handling and hitting with a pillow, prompting outrage and calls for stricter care home regulations.
At least eight assistants were charged, four were found guilty and received prison sentences ranging from four to six months for ill-treatment and neglect.
