Fubara withdraws from Rivers APC governorship primary

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has withdrawn from the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.
Fubara announced his withdrawal in a statement personally issued on Wednesday, saying his decision was driven by conviction and sacrifice in the interest of peace and unity in the state.
According to him, stepping down from the contest should not be interpreted as an act of weakness, fear or surrender, but as a move aimed at allowing Rivers State to move forward peacefully.
“Let it be clearly understood that I stepped aside from participating in the upcoming Rivers State governorship election not out of weakness, fear, or surrender, but out of conviction and sacrifice so that Rivers State may move forward in peace and unity,” he stated.
The governor added that he remains committed to serving the people of Rivers State until the expiration of his tenure.
