Funeral rites for ARISE News’ Sommie Maduagwu to kick off October 12

Colleagues, friends, and family will gather to pay their last respects to Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, the talented Arise News Channel anchor who left an indelible mark on the journalism profession.

Maduagwu’s tragic death in a robbery incident in Abuja on September 29 has continued to draw tributes from across the country, with many mourning the loss of a bright and dedicated journalist.

As the family prepares to lay her to rest, funeral arrangements have been announced, with a Night of Tributes scheduled for October 12 at ThisDay Dome, Abuja, where friends, colleagues, and well-wishers will gather to celebrate Maduagwu’s life and legacy. A Service of Songs will follow on October 15 at Corpus Christi Cathedral on Kaduna Street, Port Harcourt, reflecting the outpouring of love and support for the family.

The final farewell will take place on October 18, with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Agulu, Anambra State, followed by interment. The service will be attended by family, friends, and colleagues who will pay their last respects to a journalist who touched many lives through her work.

Maduagwu’s passing has sparked an outpouring of condolences, with many praising her dedication, professionalism, and passion for journalism. As the nation mourns her loss, the family takes comfort in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched during her career.
