General Etuk cautions course participants against plagiarism, academic fraud

The Commandant of, the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) Brigadier General Wisdom Etuk, has cautioned, students on the risk of plagiarism, urging personnel to be original in their submission and acknowledge any work they consult to avoid academic fraud.
Gen. Etuk stressed that the College frowns at plagiarism and will take severe action against such acts.
The Commandant expressed his appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja (NAM) for all the support provided to the College while congratulating the students on their nomination to attend the course.
College PRO, Major George Okupe, in the statement, said, General Etuk, also, disclosed that the College was established in December 2002 with the initial mandate of training Logisticians.
The Commandant, added that following the expansion of the courses run in the college, with the addition of leadership and staff officers courses, the mandate was modified to producing efficient Logisticians and staff-trained officers with requisite leadership skills that are capable of effectively discharging their duties in both joint and combined operations at formations and higher levels using contemporary management concepts and techniques.
General Etuk reiterated that the JLSOC will run for about 23 weeks, adding that the course is well-loaded and time is not on their side.
He further stressed that time is a resource that must be utilized and not to be taken for granted while in the College, urging the students to efficiently plan, manage and use their time properly.
The Commandant encouraged the students to work in harmony and create room for intellectual dialogue and interactions.
The Commandant said this while inaugurating the maiden Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (JLSOC) 2/23 comprising 171 students from various Corps and Services.
The event was held at the Tukur Yusuf Buratai Hall, NACOLM permanent site Ojo, Lagos.
The Special Guest of Honour (SGOH) and Guest Lecturer for the occasion Corps Commander Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Major General Hassan Tafida who is also a member of the College Board of Governors expressed delight on the course.
Delivering the Inaugural lecture titled: “The making of an effective leader and staff officer for joint operating environment,” the guest lecturer said, tactical level officers, contributions to the development of tactical level officers and field observations on staff trained tactical level officers, cannot be overemphasized.
