Police arrest, recover firearms from two suspects

Enugu State Police operatives have apprehended two male suspects and recovered a firearm and ammunition during an operation at the notorious Holy Ghost/Railway axis of Enugu.

This was contained in a statement on the X handle of the command.

The suspects, identified as Monday Igwe, 25, and Obinna Owoh, 27, were arrested following intensified operational and investigative efforts in the area.

“Two male suspects, Monday Igwe aged 25, and Obinna Owoh aged 27,both of Ebonyi State, were on January 24, 2024, at about 9 p.m., arrested by Police Operatives serving in the Central Police Station (CPS) of the Enugu State Command, with one locally fabricated cut-to-size gun loaded with a live cartridge recovered from them.

“The operational success followed the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), that operational and investigative activities be strengthened in and around Holy Ghost and the Railway axis of Enugu metropolis.

“The suspects shall be arraigned in court and prosecuted once investigations are concluded.

“The Commissioner reiterates that the ongoing strengthened policing activities shall be sustained until the area is totally rid of all acts of crime and criminality. He, therefore,enjoins the citizens to continue to support the Police as they frontally combat and flush unrepentant criminals and their activities out of Enugu State,” the statement said.
