Governor Zulum resettles IDPs in Baga

... provides short term relief to 1000

Governor Babagana Zulum has resettled 1,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Baga town back to their homes.

The Governor received them on Saturday where he gave each one what he described as “short-term relief.”

Each returnee received a bag of rice, the sum of ten thousand naira, maize, beans and three litres of oil.

The commercial town of Baga was previously occupied by militants and the Governo spent two nights with the returnees under heavy security to supervise the resettlement plan. He advised the returnees to be law-abiding and to support and cooperate with the security operatives in order to enjoy their protection and safety.

Professor Zulum assured them that the government was not going to abandon them but will continue to ensure that they are well-protected.

On his way back to Maiduguri on Sunday, insurgents again tried to ambush the governor’s convoy but security operatives repelled the attack.
