[Ikorodu] Voting began at 011 polling unit in Aga, Aga-Ijomu Ward, Ikorodu Local Government Headquarters as early as 8:30 am. Electoral officers arrived at their posts as early as 6:30 am to forestall any unforeseen situations that may affect the process. Although it’s a slow wake for residents of most parts of Ikorodu as voters are coming in trickles to their various polling units, voting began in most parts of the town and its adjoining communities as early as 8:30 am, and it has been very orderly. INEC Seems to have woken up to its responsibility as voting commenced at Okesuna polling unit 3A, unit 30 C at 8:15 am. The voters comported themselves in an orderly manner, going through the necessary formalities without any hitches. Also at Obalende polling units 30, and 31, INEC logistics staff arrived at 7:41 am to arrange chairs, and tables and set up canopies. Police attached to these polling units arrived at 7:53 am

Unlike the Presidential and National Assembly elections held last month, the turnout in some parts of Lagos is generally poor. At Lekki, which was full of activities, the last election witnessed a poor turnout of voters today. Some of the residents who came out to exercise their franchise told ThisNigeria that people had lost interest in the entire electoral process because of the results of the last Presidential election. At Lawson Igbosere polling unit 30 at Obalende, only 12 people voted as of 9.35 am. Also, at Ajeniya Igbosere Street, Polling Unit 055 just five people voted as of 9.44 am. In another polling unit in Obalende-EC 30B only 19 people voted as of 9.15 am. This information was confirmed by the INEC officials at their various duty posts.

Soldiers Arrest Over 140 Political Thugs With AK47, Other Weapons In Enugu

Soldiers deployed for security across Enugu state for the conduct of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections have arrested over 140 thugs, allegedly for Saturday’s election in the state.

Sources disclosed that the hoodlums were arrested at the Old Carolina Hotel Nsukka.

Also, another three political thugs were arrested at the INEC office in Nsukka town.

The source who did not want his name mentioned in print said hoodlums were armed with dangerous weapons including AK47 rifles and they confessed to having been allegedly deployed by the Chairman of the local government.

 

[Sanwo-Olu leads Rhodes-Vivour in Apapa LGA]

Incumbent governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu is leading other contestants in the Governorship election in Apapa Local Government of the state.

At polling unit 035, Olodan/Olojowon Street, in Apapa LGA, Governor Sanwo-Olu pulled 33 votes to beat his closest rivals, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of Labor Party (LP) who got 10 votes, while the PDP candidate had four votes.

Also at polling unit 034, New Road Junction, Apapa LGA, Sanwo-Olu received 41 votes, LP 20 votes and PDP 7 votes, while 8 votes were voided. A total of 80 person were accredited for election at the pulling unit

For the state house of Assembly in polling unit 034, APC pulled 44 votes, LP 24, PDP 9, and AA 2 votes, while at pulling unit 035, LP got 8 votes,, PDP 5, APC 32, NRM 1, ADC 1 and AA 1
