Association of Christian Schools in Nigeria yesterday cautioned the Kwara State Government, over the closure of Christian Mission Schools attempted by some Islamic fundamentalists to force the use of Hijab on female Christian students and Christian Mission Schools in the state.
Addressing newsmen in Jos , the National President of the association Dr Ekaete Ettang ,said it is a dangerous development if not immediately checked.
Recall that the Kwara State Government shut ten Christian Mission schools on Friday, February 12, for refusing to allow female Muslim students wearing Hijab to gain entrance into their schools.
The affected schools are Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) College, Sabo-Oke, St, Anthony’s Secondary School, Offa Road, ECWA School, Oja-Iya, Surulere Baptist Secondary School and Baptist Smith Secondary School, Agba Dam.
Others are CAC Secondary School, Asa Dam Road, St. Barnabas Secondary School, Sabo-Oke, John School, Maraba, St. Williams Secondary School, Taiwo-Isale and St. James Secondary School, Maraba.
The Association said it is hereby calling on all christian and mission schools to rise up and declare their true identity in words and deeds
” It is time to know that we are not just private schools but faith based schools and have our unique identity and desire to be treated as such .”

“It is important to stress that this unfair decision has already disrupted the academic programme of the affected Christian schools and students that are still struggling with their academics, due to the effects of Covid-19 pandemic.”
We appeal to all concerned , Christian and Muslims leaders ,all Governors Forums North and South to rise and rescue faith based schools in the country .
