The Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA), a socio-cultural group, has condemned the murder of CSP Baba Ali, the Divisional Police Officer of Rano in Kano State, by some irate youths.
Mr David Abluya, the National President of ECDA condemned the incident in a statement issued yesterday in Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ali was attacked by some angry youths while performing his constitutional duty.
He was later confirmed dead at the hospital.
Abluya also called for policy reform to protect security personnel from attacks by civilians.
The president, who called for thorough investigation to address the root cause of the incident, appealed that the perpetrators should be brought to justice.
“The brutal murder of CSP Baba Ali demands urgent action.
“We call on the Inspector General of Police and the Kano State Government to conduct a thorough probe into this heinous crime.
” Those responsible must face the full wrath of the law, so that it will deter future attacks on security personnel angry youths.
“We also call for a policy reform in order to forestall this ugly incident in future,”he called.
The president called on the police authority to adequately compensate the family of the deceased.
He, however, called on government at all levels to prioritise youths empowerment in order to curtail restiveness and other social vices among young people.( NAN)
