Group empowers less privilege families in Abuja community

A Non-Governmental Organization under the aegis of Holistic Initiative for Women and Children Relief has empowered no fewer than twenty families at Kurudu community, in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Speaking during the presentation of the empowerment packs to the benefiting families, the Programme Officer, Engr. Damilola Shokadejo encouraged the families to put the empowerment pack into good use.

He said, his organization is dedicated to sustaining efforts aimed at meeting the needs of poor and marginalized women and children, in its target area, through effective and transparent use of resources available to it in an inclusive and participatory way

Engr. Shokadejo said the humanitarian need in Nigeria has remained unmet reaching with geometric figures annually.

He added that the scope and scale of emergency continue to pose new challenges to key stakeholders requiring more investment to reach millions thrown into discomfort by bad governance, poverty and violent conflicts.

Noting that the government alone have not been able to meet the need of displaced women and children in Nigeria, the Programme Officer said that women have continued to suffer displacement from homes and their means of livelihood following protracted violent conflicts in parts of the country.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Folashade Odelani expressed gratitude to the NGO for empowering her to move out of poverty.

“I am very happy to benefit from this phase of the empowerment. I thank the Holistic Initiative for Women and Children Relief for remembering us. May God almighty bless them so that they will continue to empower more people in this community”.

On her part, Mrs. Elizabeth Olawale pledged to use the empowerment pack to improve her economic conditions.

Holistic Initiative for Women and Children Relief is a Nigerian-based Nongovernment and not-for-profit organization marginalized established to meet the growing needs of poor and marginalised people especially women and Children through effective engagement in WaSH, Humanitarian Aid, Public Health, and Social Accountable actions.
