Group lauds Makinde administration’s ‘giant strides’ in Oyo

A group of Nigerian professionals in the Diaspora, Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID), has passed a vote of confidence in Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State over what it calls his exceptional, astute, and purposeful leadership.

This is contained in a statement issued by the group’s Spokesperson, Ayotomiwa Adebayo, and made available to newsmen on Monday in Ibadan.

OID is a socio-political support group to the state government.

Adebayo said that Makinde had brought unprecedented economic growth and sustainable infrastructural development to the state since his assumption of office.

He said that its claims were evident in the massive and laudable projects executed by the Makinde-led administration in the last two years.

According to him, the governor has delivered his campaign promises to the people of the state, adding that the achievements were remarkable.

“Makinde has succeeded in all sectors: education, health, security, economy, infrastructure, youth and sports as well as agriculture/agribusiness where previous administrations had failed abysmally,” he said.

Adebayo called on well-meaning Nigerians in the Diaspora as well as local and foreign investors to embrace the business opportunities offered by the state government.

The OID Coordinator in Hungary, Mr. Adebowale Fafore, commended Makinde for the successes recorded in the recent agribusiness summit held in Ibadan.

He said that Makinde’s visionary leadership had rejuvenated agriculture as an alternative revenue generation in the wake of dwindling oil revenue in the global market.

“As part of the efforts to engage the youth in agriculture, Makinde set up Youth Empowerment in Agribusiness Programme (YEAP) to impact them through the agricultural value chain and channel them towards productive ventures,” he said.

An OID Executive in Germany, Mr. Tunde Olarinoye, also commended the governor’s achievement in the education sector, saying that massive investment had been made at all levels to revive the sector in the state.

“We also appreciate him for the prompt payment of salaries of civil servants, while pensioners also receive their gratuity as and when due,” he said.

The OID Coordinator in Ireland, Mr. Kehinde Oluwatosin, also acknowledged Makinde’s efforts in addressing the ecosystem infrastructural deficit that had hampered economic and sustainable development in the state.

Other members also commended his achievements in revenue generation, improved health care and other sectors of the economy. (NAN)
